Q: What should I wear?
A: Whatever makes you comfortable! If you need some ideas, think summer cocktail attire:
-Dresses or a dressy top with a skirt or slacks
-Button down shirts and slacks, ties and jackets optional
-No jeans, please
-Light jackets or sweaters are encouraged, it can get chilly after sunset
-Due to the grassy terrain at Far Horizons, high heels are discouraged
-Our wedding is going to be an outdoor event (with a tent for dinner and dancing), so please dress accordingly for the weather!
Q: Will food be served? What if I have dietary restrictions?
A: Yes! We will be having both a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres and a full dinner buffet. There will be vegetarian and gluten free options available. We will also have a bar with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.
Q: Can I bring a guest?
A: Because we have large, fantastic families and as we've made so many wonderful friends, we've had to be creative in making sure that we can fit into our venue, and there really is no room for unexpected extras. Therefore, only the people whose names appear on the envelope and invitation are asked to RSVP. But as just mentioned, we have wonderful friends and families – we're certain you'll have a great time without a date!
Q: Can I bring my kids?
A:Unfortunately, we cannot include children at either the ceremony or reception. Should you need childcare recommendations or assistance, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: Can I take pictures?
A: We are planning to have the fabulous Due West Photography (www.duewestphotos.com) document our wedding day. As we hope to have an “unplugged” ceremony, we ask that you leave the photos to the professionals during that portion of the celebration. However, feel free to take your own photos during the reception and into the evening! We only ask that guests be mindful of the professionals from Due West. We have two “hashtags” for use on social media: #LP71717 and #justinandcaroline.
Q: What is the parking situation? What about transportation?
A: There will be plenty of parking in the field adjacent to the ceremony and reception site. Do feel free to carpool to the location! Far Horizons is about 10 minutes away from most hotels in Lake Placid.
7/12/17 Please note the new parking plan: While the address on your invitation indicates the location of the wedding and reception - Far Horizons Ranch at 5083 Cascade Road - the field designated for parking onsite should be accessed via Adirondack Loj Road, which is about ¼ mile from the entrance to Far Horizons. There will be a sign at the end of the driveway to remind (and direct) you on Monday. Once on Adirondack Loj Road, follow purple/blue/green signs for our wedding!
Uber, Lyft, and other ride-sharing services are (very) newly operational in Lake Placid at this point. You can also use one of the following local cab companies:
-Rick’s Taxi 518-523-4741
-Corrow’s Adirondack Taxi 518-523-9091
Q: Isn’t July 17th a Monday?
A: Yes, it is! We realize that a Monday wedding is not exactly traditional, but the date is significant to us and we will be so happy if you are able to join us. However, we know that a weekday wedding may be difficult to accommodate in your schedule - if you cannot be with us on the day, please know that you are with us in spirit and we will celebrate with you when we can!
